Digging the Footings

Each of the footings that we need for our steel poles to go into need a 3 foot by 3 foot square hole, that is 2 1/2 feet deep. This will allow us to put a 4 inch gravel bed in the bottom of a 1 foot thick footing, that has a 5x5 grid of rebar in the bottom of it. The steel poles will then be attached to the footing and then the footing will be covered with soil and grass, making the large massive footing unobtrusive to the site. The slender poles will seem to just delicately touch the ground to hold up the fluid and arid canopy.
