Testing Materials

We had some tests conducted on the recycled material that we plan on using for the canopy. In order for it to withstand as part of the structure, we needed to test the tensile strength of it. This was done by making small samples of the riveted connection that the real canopy will have, with each one being made slightly differently in order to test what location of the rivet was the best. They were then each put into a machine that pulls the two ends apart from each other. Once the connection fails, then that means that is all the weight it can stand to pull. The most we got was around 30 pounds.
